With a steady drip of releases from labels such as Great Circles, L.I.E.S., and Jack Dept., Philadephia-based M//R (Billy Werner) has carved out a uniquely penumbral club zone. Informed by a lifetime in various underground music spheres and sharpened by steady DJ gigs across the eastern US, 𝑨𝒏𝒙𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 delivers Werner’s deepest cuts to date. Heavy influence from classic dubs intersects with modern bass-centric genres to deliver four tracks of floating pads and faveolatic percussion, simmering atop magmatic sub-bass rhythms. The center label reads “33-45 RPM” — due to the analog nature of the recordings, it can be pitched down to languorous BPMs; every tempo and pitch offering new vistas for home listening or (hopefully soon) dancefloor revelations.
