After his debut record Leaper, Gosheven (Balint Szabo, Budapest, HU) leaps again and continues the never ending quest he started, to share the hidden treasures of alternate tunings. Bivaq is a natural continuation of Leaper: a personal record that places vulnerability in the heart of things while it shares end-of-the-world spirits and creates unusual atmospheres of parallel universes.
Many of the pieces were created through extensive work alongside a group of contemporary dancers and choreographers in Budapest and later became the score of the group’s still running performance “Deeper”. Not surprisingly the music served as an essential part of this ungraspable visionary work.
The album’s featured tunings: Wendy Carlos super just tuning (#2, #3, #5, #7, #8), La Monte Young’s The Well-Tuned Piano tuning (#1, #4, #11, #12), Michael Harrison’s Revelation tuning (#9, #10), Ben Johnston’s overtone tuning (#6)
